Irredeemable
Had a fantastic night last night with the Barrs. Most times we come together we watch interesting cinema fare and last night was no exception. This is a commentary on the first of the two films we saw : Matango aka Attack of the Mushroom People. This film was just bizarre from beginning to end and not in a great psychedelic journey through the inner soul sense either. It was just really oddly put together. Imagine, if you will, a film that combines Blue Hawaii and Charlie & the Chocolate Factory with episodes from Thunderbirds, Lost and Gilligan’s Island starring obviously Asian people overdubbed in earnest American English. I know, sounds awesome, right? While it does have its moments, this gem from 1963 sadly isn’t all you would have hoped.
